Description: In order to better study in college and integrate into society in the future, the certificates I have obtained are internationally recognized and valid for life. Moreover, these certificates and skills can be systematically advanced throughout life.
This summer school programme should only admit students above grade nine, but I attended this summer school in the summer holiday from seventh grade to eighth grade. I was admitted by this Princeton Summer School with an exception because I have a good TOEFL grade, with score of 103, and I also performed excellence in the school. Thus I could participate in this Princeton Summer School Programme. After I went to America to study in the summer school, I really gained a lot of knowledge and experience I did not have before, for instance, expertise in astrophysics and in cancer study of biology. I learned a lot in this summer school programme. In addition, I behaved well during the programme, I paid attention and made notes for what the professor wrote down and talked during the lessons. I was highly praised by my professor.
Patent
Since I was a little tiny child, I have already been very interested in scientific inventions and innovations. I had read books telling stories of Thomas Edison, and I had also asked many questions to my parents about science. I thought I can change the world when I was young. Thus I invented this type of toothpaste, because of my purpose of using specific inventions to urge people not to waste resources. The toothpaste I used before without the outer connector can waste a lot of toothpaste when people are squeezing out toothpaste from the tube. However, with this kind of toothpaste tube outer connector, we can control the amount of toothpaste squeezed out of the tube. Hence I achieved my goal of protect natural resources and prohibit waste from any perspective of live.
Flute/Orchestra
I have been playing flute from second grade. I was attracted by this beautiful silver instrument, so I pleased my mum to agree sending me to the school’s orchestra. I made a plan for myself for practising flute from grade two to grade five, I would practise flute for half an hour to one hour each day, because I don’t have so much academic stress at that time. In grade six, I joined a more professional orchestra named Sichuan Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, in sixth grade, I did not have enough time for practising flute, so my plan changed into one hour per three days. My orchestra won many awards and played many beautiful music pieces, so I enjoyed my orchestra very much. Also, I have been participating in BASIS’s orchestra and elective music class, and I played many music pieces in the Awarding Ceremonies and activities
This year I wrote an essay about racism, preparing for publishing it on to a journal, but I believe I will participate in the John Locke Essay Competition next year. This year’s writing experience is an excellent opportunity for the preparation to take part in the the John Locke Writing Competition next year. Hope I can get a good grade next year. Back to the topic, I have been preparing for this journal publication a very long time, and luckily, I received a good result. I worked on this essay with my teacher, and most of ideas and the contents are written by myself. I utilized much of my spare time to check information in other essays or academic essays and combined the ideas into the citations of my own essays.
Debate Tournaments This is the second debate tournament I have ever joined with my debate partner. My partner and I had been preparing this tournament for two months, and the topic for the 2024 summer nationals is Drug patents should be abolished. However, we were doing our best, but because we were both new to debate and unfamiliar to it, so that we only won the octo finals. My partner and I , though, gained a lot of experience for debate through this tournament because we have watched many other debate teams’ speech and crossfire, so we won the quarter finals in the next tournament, we were both happy about that.
I joined this online Berkeley Asia debate tournament because I am interested in debate. Elina and I finished the debate together, and she is an excellent partner. We had been preparing this debate for several months, since we also joined other TOC debate tournaments. Also, this debate tournament was the third tournaments I have participated in, so I was a little bit lack of confidence at first. But after winning one opponent team, I started to gain confidence. My partner has also been debating for a long time, so she also encouraged me a lot, so did my mom. Thus, we won the quater final place in this debate tournament.
This is the first time I have participated in the TOC Championship, and I have been debating for only nine months. Because I am fond in debate, so I was preparing really for this championship very hard. This is also the most recent debate competition I have joined in. It was surprising when I saw I am on the list of Middle School Outstanding Speaker, and my partner and I were both pride after getting the position of quarter finals. Normally this competition is most competitive in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangdong, Chengdu is a comparatively new place to debate competitions. But me and my partner still saw many friends from Chengdu was participating, and they were all glad of us when we breakthrough and joined the quarter final. I got the position of quarter finals in December 29 which is today.
